I’ve never really written a resume before. I’ve never really had to show people a portfolio.
I have had several jobs… but each one of them was for someone that I knew, they needed help so they talked to me. The fit seemed to be right at the time so I worked for them.
The process of trying to find a job in the world of technology seems to be a bit different. Maybe not so much in what actually happens (a connection is made, I have something that would add to what it is the hiring guy does, so we work together) but rather in how that connection is made.
Let’s just say that it’s a bit different than anything I’ve ever done up till now.
The past few days I’ve been working on a web page that will basically be an overview of who I am, what I’ve done, what I can do and how to get in touch with me. It’s been kind of interesting thinking about what exactly should be included on such a page.
Questions arise like, who am I really? What do I want people to think of when they think of me? What do I really want to do? How do I portray all that information in words? There are other thoughts and questions that I’ve been working through, but it has been a learning experience. If I had to bet on it, I would imagine that I’ve still got a few more things to learn about the process.
I remember trying to work through some of this stuff last fall while trying to start my own business. At that point it was more of “how do I convince someone that what I can do for them is better than what they can do for themselves,” but the principle was similar. I don’t know that I ever figured it out totally, maybe I’ll figure more of it out this time. 🙂
Here’s to the process of figuring “stuff” out!

Don’t forget that important question, the proverbial “why”!
But seriously, can’t wait to see where this takes you and what you start to figure out 🙂

Haha… that question. I have a feeling it will always be around to be asked.
The future looks interesting, that’s for sure! I look forwards to seeing where all it goes too.. 🙂
